Upper West Regional PRO for the Ghana Police, Inspector Gideon Ohene Boateng, has revealed that the test result for 15-year old boy, Maabeng Titus, who fled the St Theresa’s Hospital in Nandom after showing covid-19 symptoms turned out negative.
15-year old boy, Maabeng Titus, a resident of Bu in the Nandom district of the upper West Region fell sick on Saturday May 2, 2020 and was diagnosed with symptoms of covid-19.
According to police report ,Maabeng Titus was admitted at the St Theresa’s Hospital in Nandom where he was subsequently quarantined with sample taken for testing.
It was, however, detected on Wednesday May 13, 2020 that he had escaped from the facility at about 9:00 am while awaiting the test result of his sample.
Speaking on Atinka FM’s AM Drive with host Ekourba Gyasi Simprimu, Upper West Regional PRO for the Ghana Police, Inspector Gideon Ohene Boateng said although the test result came out negative, the family of the boy has pleaded with the Police to help them find their son.
According to him, it would have been a disaster if the test result had turned out positive, since he would have infected a lot of people by now.
“He fled the Nandom hospital while awaiting the result for his test. But we heaved a sigh of relief when the doctor called to inform us that his test result had come and that it was negative. At least it’s a good start. This should serve as a lesson to people run away from quarantine centers, you will end up infecting your loved ones”, he said
The Regional Police Command has since called on relatives and the general public especially the people of Nandom to aid the Police and hospital authorities with reliable information to get in touch with the patient to reunite him with his family.
