A 32-year-old man, Kwame Asirifi, aka Kwame Yaaya, lost his life over the weekend after consuming two bottles of popular local liquor (Akpeteshie) at Asuakoso, a suburb of Akyem Hemang in the Eastern Region.
According to the Assembly Man for the area, Johnson Appiah, the late Asirifi initially collapsed while drinking the hard product worth only GHC30.
He said Asirifie was later sent to the Haw Memorial Hospital when the condition got worse after being resuscitated by his wife and father. Unfortunately, he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
However, the Assembly man told news men that the police were still conducting investigation to establish the real cause of death.
The deceased and other friends were competing for the best consumer of Apketeshie when the sad incident occurred. The other competitors are currently at large.
