Ghanaian business magnate and founder and of the McDan Group of Companies, Mr Daniel McKorley says his biggest challenge as an entrepreneur is finding quality human resource. He has therefore taken a decision not to employ on the basis of degrees or certificates anymore but rather on attitudes.

Speaking exclusively to PKbusinessworld, Mr McKorley said alot needs to be done to equip the youth to take up jobs. Mr McKorley who was recently part of a panel discussion on ‘”doing business in Ghana with Ghanaian leaders ” as part of the UK Ghana investment summit praised governments effort at promoting entrepreneurship amongst the youth.

Mr Mckorley said he has personally taken up the challenge to help alleviate the plight of young graduates through the establishment of the Mcdan Challenge competition which will see students supported with start-up capital to realize their dreams.

The competition will also afford the contestants the chance to benefit from a mentoring and a coaching program under the auspices of the McDan Group of Companies.Several Ghanaian entrepreneurs including Chief Executive of Engineers and Planners,Ibrahim Mahama have in the past had cause to comment on the attitude of the youth towards life.

Mr McKorley who operates Mcdan shipping lines says having been in business over the past ten years he believes attitude is everything “‘I have decided to employ attitude and not degrees and certificates so now when you appear on my interview panel, i will employ based on your attitude”. He challenged government to implement policies that will promote the private sector since it fuels the eventual growth of the economy.
