Gomoa Fetteh clash: Faction blames security lapses for violence

A faction in last weekend’s Gomoa Fetteh chieftaincy clash in the Central Region, which resulted in the injury of several persons, has cited security lapses on the part of security operatives for the violence.

According to members of the Abor Ewusi Family, whose royal’s enstoolment ceremony allegedly triggered the violence, despite letters written to the Regional and District security chiefs, over the planned coronation of Nana Kabby Kay, no provision of security was made on that faithful day.

Last Thursday’s incident which nearly claimed the lives of some invited guests to the ceremony, saw some persons being picked up by the police as suspects.

However, the Abor Ewusi Family says those arrested had nothing to do with the incident, claiming they were mere invited guests.

They are urging the security agencies to fish out those behind last weeks violence, since they are known thugs.

Alhaji Mumuni Idrissu, an estate developer, who was initially paraded as a suspect by the police, tells ATINKANEWS, he is yet to come to terms with what transpired on that day.

According to him, the posturing of the police in the discharge of their duties smacks of incompetence.

He said, he only turned up for the event as a guest of honour, only to be surrounded by some hoodlums claiming he was part of the organizers.

Meanwhile, the Gomoa District Police Command, say they have launched a full scale investigations into the matter, to unravel persons behind last week’s violence.
