The Chairman of the Ghana Education Service (GES) Governing Council, Michael Nsowah, has hinted that not all students under the free SHS programme can get access to boarding facilities in schools due to limited facilities.
There have been calls on the GES and the Ministry of Education from parents of wards who failed to get admission into their preferred schools due to inadequate boarding facilities to help solve the problem.
Some parents who spoke to Atinka FM accused heads of the said schools of deliberately preventing them from enjoying government's free SHS programme.
However, speaking to Ekourba Gyasi on Atinka AM Drive Tuesday, Chairman of the Ghana Education Service (GES) Governing Council, Michael Nsowah explained that some of these schools genuinely have inadequate spaces to accommodate huge number of students.
“The truth is that there will not be boarding facilities for all the students placed in the school; parents should exercise patience and look at the other options,” he added.
He assured the general public that cabinet will meet and look at ways of solving the issue as soon as possible.
