International Business at the University of Ghana Business School and Research Associate at the University of Free State Business School. Elder. Amo Tobbin speaks on the topic, ’Step out of the box; see opportunities all around’ and will also give his considerable insight on ‘Surviving at the Top’. This, according to the organisers, will focus on identifying business opportunities and seeing them through from conception to establishment. Mrs. Adu-Bediako will speak on ‘Growing in Business’, which will focus on the practicalities of business growth using Shallom Edibles as a case study.  Prof. Hinson will round up that particular topic with ‘Growing in Business II’, which will focus on maintaining stability in a growing entrepreneurial venture.

The VBSF is an annual event organised by one of the fastest growing Congregations of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, the Victory Congregation situated at Fafraha near Adenta in the Greater Accra Region.

Speaking in an interview with the media, Mr K. O. Adu Labi, a member of the VBSF Planning Committee, stressed that the Business Summit and Fair has been a real blessing to attendees and exhibitors alike and that there are many testimonies to that fact.

According to him, the purpose of VBSF is to “meet the development needs of the communities in which we worship by providing entrepreneurial skills to encourage and enable those interested in starting their own businesses, no matter how small, especially in the advent of high youth unemployment in the country and the current times of economic austerity, to do so”.

He added that “We are of the view that it is never too early or too late to encourage and build entrepreneurial skills”.  Mr. Adu Labi was of the belief that there are so many budding and latent talents out there and that just the right word, at the right time, in the right ear, can make a huge difference through the grace of God.

The Business Fair is expected to host close to one hundred exhibitors from various sectors, with a wide range of goods and services to be showcased during the two days’ duration.  These are expected to include ready-to-eat meals to packaged convenience foods and farm produce, hand-crafted jewelery, homecare products, health products, books, clothing, footwear, cosmetics, furniture, farming equipment, financial services, insurance, and telecommunications services.

It is expected that there will be close to one thousand attendees to the VBSF this year, some of whom will be business students from various institutions.  Of course, entrepreneurs of all levels of experience will also be gracing the occasion to pick up tips on how to take their business to the next level of success.
