“Come clear on gay rights and be free” – Aseidu Nketia tells Nana Addo

The General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Asiedu Nketia, has asked President Nana Akufo-Addo to come clear and defend the country’s position on gay marriages.

According to him, the President should expect more bashing if he does not state his position on gay marriages.

The General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Johnson Asiedu, speaking at the NDC's Unity walk in Kumasi Saturday, claimed president Akufo-Addo’s administration is already making plans to accept the practice despite the fact that the majority of Ghanaians detest the act.

The issue of homosexuality has become topical in recent times, with UK Prime Minister Theresa May urging developing countries to legalize the practice.

In an interview with Ekourba Gyasi on Atinka AM Drive, General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Asiedu Nketia stated that former President Mahama was tagged gay after his friendship with gay activist, Andrew Solomon, came to the limelight.

Asiedu Nketia explained that Mr. Mahama, however, made his stance towards the acceptance of gay marriage public.

“Just like what the former President’s did, we only expect our President to come clear and defend the country’s stance on same-sex marriages and not beat around the bush anytime the issue of same marriages comes up,” he stated.

Asiedu Nketia also also suggested a second and third wife to Theresa May’s husband in exchange for gay rights.
