What happened to RTU players and officials was just a mistake, not deliberate – Nsuatreman FC CEO

Nsuatreman FC CEO has said reports of assault on players and officials of Real Tamale United FC was just a mistake and not intentional.

The unfortunate incident took place after their match day 6 Division One Zone game between Nsuatreman and RTU on Sunday, February 7 at the Twumasi Sports Complex at Nsuatre in the Bono Region.

“The game ended 1-1 and after the game, the supporters were angry and wanted to beat the referees due to their bad performance so we calmed them down and escorted the referees and the match commissioner into the dressing room. I came back to field to send the away team to the dressing room too but their coached refused and insulted me” – Nsuatreman FC CEO, Stephen Ansu told Atinka FM

“It was rather unfortunate but what happened was just a mistake, we didn’t force our supporters to beat them, they were just throwing stones and one came from behind to hit one of their players and official and this happened to them because they refused to cooperate with me while I was trying to save them from danger,” he added.

“We didn’t asked our supporters to beat them; it was just a mistake because both the referees and the match commissioner were safe and nothing happened to them” – He further explained.

GFA has closed down the Twumasi Sports Complex indefinitely as they continue to cooperate with the police.
