Western Regional SWAT team rescues ‘Stolen child’, suspect and husband arrested

The one-year-old boy who was kidnapped from his mother at the Takoradi Market Circle last week Friday has been found by the Western Regional SWAT Team.

According to information gathered by ATINKA NEWS, the Western Regional Police SWAT Team had information that the kidnapper and her accomplice which was said to be her husband were in their hideout at Effiekuma a suburb Takoradi.

The Police acted upon the information gathered and went in to the hideout of the perpetrators around 11:00pm last night at Effiekuma Zongo and arrested them.

The woman who kidnapped the child and her accomplice, a man believed to be Togolese, have been arrested for further interrogation and prosecution.

A CCTV camera being used by a cluster of banks around the area captured the woman moving away from the market with the child in her arms.

On Friday March 22, 2019 the one-year old boy was report stolen by an unknown person alleging to be fair, slim and short lady at Takoradi Market Circle around Post Office area while the mother a trader whose name was given as Harriet Eshun popularly known as Nana Akosua Buah was attended to a customer.

A complaint was subsequently lodged at the Takoradi Central Police Station whiles the family appealed to the general public to help share and circulate the information to enable the family find the boy.

The issue of kidnap in the Sekondi-Takoradi metropolis has become alarming and worrying, leaving the people living in the Oil City and its environs in fear describing the place as unsafe for abode.

The kidnap of the one-year old boy adds up to the recent kidnapping cases in the Sekondi-Takoradi metropolis where three TAADI girls reported Kidnapped are still not found.

The baby has since been sent to the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital for medical examination.
