Former President, John Dramani Mahama says the National Democratic Congress (NDC) will not do anything to jeopardise the peace this country has always enjoyed despite the outcome of the 2020 election petition.
According to him, the NDC will be law abiding and will not compromise the peace of this country.
Addressing the nation after the Supreme Court’s verdict on the 2020 election petition, Mahama said although he is disappointed in the verdict, he will continue to preach peace amongst his people and put Ghana first.
“We will be law abiding and will do nothing to compromise the stability of this country,” he said.
Mr Mahama added that however, the NDC will continue to be the voice for the voiceless and will not be distracted from its goal of demanding justice and fairness for the people of Ghana at all times.
He was of the belief that the NDC will survive and grow from strength to strength despite the outcome of the 2020 election.
He also said the NDC will always remain the party of the people.
Mr Mahama thanked his legal team for supporting their tremendous performance, noting that they rendered their services to him and the NDC free of charge.
“I thank our lawyers, led by Tsatsu Tsikata, for a valiant fight which has won the admiration of many,” he said.
He also expressed similar gratitude to all who played diverse roles to bring the petition together as well as the witnesses.
He again thanked the over 6,000,000 Ghanaians who voted for him during the election, urging them to channel their disappointment to hardwork for the task ahead in winning the next election.
