The President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has stated that the country cannot wait for COVID-19 to be over before it can go to the polls.
He noted that a lot of persons raised concerns as to the consequences of going to register for the new voter’s register or even go for election amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.
However, he stated that the Country cannot afford any chaos caused because of not having elections due to COVID-19, hence We must vote on 7th December 2020.
He stated that Other African countries have had their elections during the pandemic stating therefore that having elections amidst the pandemic is not beyond Ghana.
President Akufo-Addo also noted that the EC has put together protocols to ensure the safety of voters and the public is therefore urged to abide by them.
He Urged all eligible citizens who are of sound mind to go out and register to be able to exercise their civic responsibility.
