One of the lecturers whose appointment has been terminated by the Governing Council of the University of Education, Winneba, has appealed the council’s decision.

Dr. Sarpong is a Senior lecturer at the University and an alumni representative on UEW’s governing council.

Dr. Sarpong’s appointment was terminated after the governing council of the University of Education, Winneba reported him to the Disciplinary Board of the school for walking out of a meeting with the chairman of the UEW governing council which was considered as insubordination and misconduct.

Per the letter issued for his dismissal, Dr. Sarpong was said to have cunningly orchestrated the posting of” letters inviting him to appear before the Disciplinary Board to be circulated on social media, particularly on UEW Alumni WhatsApp page just to cause disaffection for the UEW Management.

Although Dr. Sarpong has admitted walking out of a meeting with the chairman of the UEW governing council, he  explained  that he did that after asking permission not to take part in a process to indite some 6 lecturers of the University.

Speaking to Ekourba Gyasi on Atinka AM Drive, Dr. Sarpong stated that he has appealed the decision by the  council. He, however, noted that he might go further based on the outcome of the appeal.

“It’s a step -by -step action, and like I said, I will still go ahead and do the needful before taking external decision to seek justice”, he added.

Meanwhile, Students of the Physical Education Department who were not happy with the termination of the appoint of Dr. Sarpong, a senior lecturer at the Department, Tuesday morning blocked some principal streets on campus with stones and tables and demonstrated to express their displeasure  over the termination of their  lecturer's appointment.
