This is not the time to make money-Dep Health Minister to pastors

The Deputy Minister of Health, Alexander Kodwo Kom Abban has cautioned pastors to obey directives of the President to suspend all church activities in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak.
He was of the belief that after the coronavirus outbreak, people will willingly come and offer thanksgiving offering to God and therefore the pastors should hold on their services and rather pray to God to save the nation from the pandemic.
He was speaking at a stakeholders’ meeting to strategise at the nursing and midwifery front towards coronavirus at the Head office of the Nurses and Midwifery Council where  donations were made by the church of Pentecost and the Tobinco Group of Companies to the Ministry of Health.
The Tobinco Group of Companies in collaboration with the Church of Pentecost (COP) presented 50 sets of personal protective equipment (PPE) and alcohol based hand sanitizers worth ₵45,000 to the Ministry of Health to support government’s effort in the fight against coronavirus.
The items included coveralls, nose masks, N95 Respirators, face shields, goggles, aprons, examination gloves, heavy-duty gloves, gumboots and Omal hand sanitizers, a product of Entrance Pharmaceuticals and Research Center.

The items were received by the Deputy Minister of Health, Hon. Alexander Kodwo Kom Abban, on Tuesday, March 24, 2020 as part of the Company and church’s support to the fight against the outbreak of the deadly COVID-19 pandemic.
The Chairperson of the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Ghana, Rev. Veronica Mina Darko, on behalf of the council, also donated 50-sets of personal protective equipment to the tune of GHS 20,000.00 to the MoH for onward distribution to health officials across the country.

Alexander Kodwo Kom Abban expressed gratitude to the Church of Pentecost, the Tobinco Group of Companies  and the Nurses and Midwifery Council for the gesture, calling on all Ghanaians to emulate what the entities have done.
For the nurses who completed their education in 2017 and 2018 and have not yet been employed, he stated that government will employ them soon so that they can help in dealing with the coronavirus outbreak.
He also urged the public not to politice issues concerning the coronavirus, adding that by doing so, people will end fighting each other instead of fighting the disease.

According to the General Secretary of the church, Apostle Alexander Nana Yaw Kumi-Larbi, the church has set aside a fund of GHS 100,000.00 to support efforts by government, out of which, the personal protective equipment (PPE) has been procured to support health officials who are front liners in the battle against the deadly virus.
