An Executive Secretary of the Importers and Exporters Association of Ghana, Sampson Awingobit Asaki, is confident of becoming the flagbearer of the People’s National Convention PNC for the 2020 elections when nominations are opened.
The outspoken maritime expert who has announced his intention to contest the flagbearership race on the ticket of the PNC, is promising a new hope for the party if elected the flagbearer.
The 41- year -old entrepreneur, believes the time has come for the party to have a new phase of leadership, which will improve the fortunes of the party and also attract more youth to it fold.
He is campaigning on reactivating the grassroot support base of the party as well empowering party executives to also support the party at various levels.
With barely 10 months to the general elections, the PNC is yet to announce a date for its congress and the opening of nominations for the flagbearership race and that of parliamentary primaries. This has created a perception that the PNC might not contest in the December 2020 elections, a situation, Sampson Asaki believes must be addressed.
He said this will send a wrong signal to the general public and its contenders in the forthcoming general elections.
He Promised that if he becomes the flagbearer of the party, he would ensure that the structures within the party are supported to work effectively.
He said he’s marketable and has the exposure to pull the needed resources and support for the party.
