The Mayor of the Tema Metropolitan Assembly, Felix Mensah Nii Annan-La has urged well-to-do individuals and people in positions of authority to lend helping hands to talented youth in the various spheres of disciplines. This according to him is one surest way to guarantee the future of Tema.
He made the passionate appeal at the media launch of 2019 Afrofest festival in Tema, organised by the Tema Metropolitan Assembly in collaboration with SyPhics Studios and Renegade Africa.
Afrofest, the seven days activity-packed festival which commences December 22 is in tandem with the year of return mantra by the president of the Republic of Ghana, seeks to unearth and nurture their talents in the Metropolis through sports, cultural display among others for the overall development of Tema and Ghana as a whole.
Felix Mensah Nii Annan-La said, his vision to improve Tema does not only include improving the road network, build hospitals and schools, improve, sanitation among others, but also encapsulates restoring entertainment and the night life in Tema.
Mr. Annan-La who recalled the once vibrancy of Tema with the presence of night clubs and Pubs that contributed immensely to the local economy, enumerated some entertainment icons from the Metropolis and considered Afrofest launch as a platform to revive such old economic and social benefits.
Oscar Mawuli Nuwoati, Head of Communication of Syphics Studios, co-organisers of the event further explaining the rationale behind the festival said, even though Afrofest festival is in relations with the year of return initiative, Tema was not captured on the celebration calendar.
As a result, the Afrofest festival has been launched as its version of the year of return celebration, given Tema’s position at the centre of the world and producing entertainment icons, actors and actresses as well as renowned sportsmen.
The event he added, also aimed at youth development and contribute to the revival of Ghana football, especially at the colts level.
