Tarkwa-Nsuaem: I only saw NDC’s petition on Social Media- MP

Member of Parliament for Tarkwa-Nsuaem constituency in the Western Region, George Mireku Duka, says his office has not received any petition seeking to challenge his seat.

According to him, the said petition is only making rounds on social media.

The Tarkwa-Nsuaem branch of the opposition National Democratic Congress(NDC) filed a petition at the Sekondi High Court challenging the 2020 Parliamentary Election Results of the constituency.

According to A press statement released by the Constituency Executives, the petition was filed pursuant to the party’s audit of the 2020 parliamentary results and after extensive consultations with the National and Regional Leadership of the party.

Responding to the issue in an interview on Atinka’s AM Drive with host Ekuoba Gyasi, Mr. Mireku Duka reiterated that his office has not received a petition which seeks to challenge the parliamentary elections which he won.

According to the lawmaker, the constituents of Tarkwa-Nsuaem constituency voted massively for him and President Akufo-Addo due to the hard work of the party in the constituency.

“As I speak with you now, no one has served me or my office with any election petition to challenge my massive win. I only saw their write ups on social media which I don’t really believe”.

“I’m ready to respond should any court of competent jurisdiction serve me with any election petition, but for now let’s disregard what these persons are circulating on social media and seek the development of Ghana, ” he added.
