Takoradi Technical University, others benefit from nationwide disinfection

As part of efforts to control the spread of the Covid-19 in the country, the Ministry of Education in collaboration with waste management giant, Zoomlion Ghana Limited (ZGL) has disinfected tertiary institutions within the Western Region.

These include the Takoradi Technical University, the Takoradi campuses of the Valley View university, KNUST, GIMPA among others. In all, eight institutions were disinfected.

Briefing the media before the commencement of the exercise, the Takoradi Regional Manager of Zoomlion, Alhaji Abdulai Abdallah said the exercise forms part the President’s directive of having all schools disinfected before the reopening of schools on January 9, 2021.

He explained that, the sanitation officers have disinfected lecture halls, libraries and all open spaces of the schools.

This he said “is to ensure that students and teaching staff are protected from the spread of Covid-19.”

Abdallah further urged the students to continue to adhere to the preventive protocols to ensure that no one contracts the disease.

The assistant Registrar of the Takoradi Technical University, Kenneth Boateng, assured the students that there were enough nose masks for all, adding that continuing students have already been issued with theirs. “New students will receive their nose masks soon,” he guaranteed.
