A delay in getting supper ready for students at the Fumbisi Senior High School in the Builsa South District of the Upper East Region Sunday evening sent students on rampage, destroying school property.
According to sources, the rampaging students also killed livestock belonging to teachers of the school and destroyed several other kitchen and dining ware belonging to the school.
The riot has left several students and three policemen with various degrees of injuries. The windscreen of a vehicle belonging to the police was also smashed.
School authorities are tight-lipped over the incident. Atinka News however learnt it took the intervention of the police to calm down tensions.
The Regional Minister Rockson Bukari, according to sources has also been to the school in efforts to douse tensions.
About 30 students of the school have also been picked up by the Builsa South District Police in Connection with the riots to assist in investigations.
The headmaster of the school, Mr Francis Adajagsa confirmed the story but said the issue is being handled by both the district and regional directorate of education.
Calm has returned to the school but with low attendance.
