Ridge to Investigate death of Pregnant woman who died after wrong medication

The Management of the Greater Accra Regional Hospital says it has launched an investigation into the death of the wife of the Director for the Ghana Institute of Languages, Emmanuel Kobina Kuto, who died after a wrong medication was allegedly administered to her.

Mr. Emmanuel Kobina Kuto, who narrated the sad incident on his Facebook wall, said he left his wife at the Ridge hospital only to be told the previous day that his wife had been given a medication which was not prescribed by the Doctor attending to his wife.

According to Emmanuel Kobina Kuto, what hurts him most was the fact that as the doctor who first attended to his wife was scolding the other Doctor on phone, the nurses were laughing heartily and that even the doctor was rebuking his colleague somehow jokingly.

The post caught the attention of the management of Ridge who have issued a statement describing the incident as unfortunate.

According to the statement, Management of the facility , with a matter of urgency, has instituted an investigation the incident in order to establish events leading to the sad situation. 

It said the findings of the investigation would be shared with all stakeholders.

“Management will like to assure the public that, with a matter of urgency, an investigation has been instituted into this unfortunate incident in order to establish events leading to the sad situation. The findings of the investigation would be shared with all stakeholders.

“The Greater Accra Regional Hospital, Ridge practices an open-door policy and we encourage our Clients to report any misgiving or seek clarity on any clinical procedure with the Customer Service or Public Relations Units for proper Management response”, the statement signed by Dr. Emmanuel K. Srofenyoh the Medical Director for the facility said.
