Removal of Justice Ayisi Addo, two others most unfair – Effah Darteh

Lawyer for embattled Justice Ayisi Addo, Nkrabea Effah Darteh, has described the suspension of his client as unfair.

The President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has removed three High Court Judges from Office.

Mr. Justice Ayisi Addo, Mr. Justice Uuter Paul Dery, and Mr. Justice Mustapha Habib Logoh have been from office as Justices of the High Court.

The removal of these Justices, was revealed in a statement signed by the Director of Communications at the Office of the President, Eugene Arhin.

According to the statement, the action was taken after the Committee established by the Chief Justice, Justice Sophia Akuffo, pursuant to Article 146(4) of the Constitution, to investigate a complaint lodged against the three judges by Mr. Anas Aremeyaw Anas, recommended their removal from office.

However, speaking to Kaakyire Ofori Ayim on Atinka AM Drive, Nkrabea Effah Darteh stated that action meted by the President on his client was done based on a one sided story. He described the situation as sad and worrying.

“The President has referred the decision to the CID of the Ghana Police for further investigations and press criminal charges if found.  We are hoping that this comes up because we are ready to defend our client in court” he said.

He added that the lawyers of Ayisi Addo will sue the government for wrongful dismissal, possible reinstatement of their client should the criminal charges fail in court.

Meanwhile, the other two justices, Mr. Justice Uuter Paul Dery and Mr. Justice Mustapha Habib Logoh have also sworn to challenge the decision of the government.
