Rawlings 'mocks' Kwesi Ahwoi in latest Twitter rant

Former President, Jerry John Rawlings, says the presidency is too busy a place for hopefuls and running mates "who spend a little too much time grooming their moustache and dyeing their hair".

The Former President made the statement in a tweet on Monday afternoon. According to sources, the tweet  is a reaction to the  decision by former President John Dramani Mahama to appoint Kwesi Ahwoi as running mate  ahead of election 2020 if he wins the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearership race.

According to sources, the decision of President Mahama is to compensate the Ahwoi brothers after he  (Mr. Mahama) reportedly sidelined them during his tenure as President.

The Ahwoi brothers-Ato Ahwoi,Kwmena Ahwoi and Kwesi Ahwoi are busily campaigning for Mahama to be reelected as flagbearer of NDC.  Ato and Kwamena used to be staunch allies of Mr Rawlings and played major roles in then PNDC government in 1980’s as well as the two constitutional terms led by President Rawlings in 1992 and 1996 respectively.

However, the two senior Ahwois are no longer in the good books of Rawlings hence his decision   to oppose anything from their camp as far as NDC internal politics is concerned.

“Isn't the Presidency too busy a place for hopefuls/running mates who spend a little too much time grooming their moustache and dyeing their hair?” Rawlings tweeted.
