PRAMPRAM: Annual Kpedzoo festival to come off 14th May – Chief Priest

The chief priest of the Prampram Paramount Area in the Ningo Prampram District of the Greater Accra region, Nii Ayetey Charwey Laabia, has announced that per the performance of all necessary customary rites, this year’s Kpledzoo festival celebrated by the people of Prampram will come off on the 14th of May 2019.
The latest announcement by the chief priest of Prampram Traditonal Area Nii Ayertey Charwey Laabia, over the date for the celebration of this year’s annual Kpledzoo festival by the chiefs and people of Prampram in the Greater Accra region, follows earlier report which sort to create the impression that, the festival has been called off.
Early last week, reports were rife that the chief priest who is mandated customarily and traditionally to perform the necessary rituals to pave way for the celebration of the Kpledzoo festival, had placed a ban on the festival due to perceived heightened tension over a purported chieftaincy disputes in the area.
However addressing the press in the presence of the chief of Prampram and that of the kingmakers and elders of the Prampram Traditional council, the chief priest, Nii Ayertey Charwey, denied ever placing a ban on the festival this year, claiming he has since performed the customary rituals for the celebration of this year’s Klpedzoo festival which comes off on the 14th of May.
Chief of the Prampram Paramouncy, Nene Tetteh Wakah III, also denied claims of tension and uncertainty in the Prampram township, promising a peaceful Kpledzoo festival this year. He said necessary security arrangement has been put in place to ensure the safety of lives and properties during the celebration.
Councillor to the Prampram Traditional counci, Nii Ayiku Obleh also called on all and sundry to ignore any negative reportage about this year’s Kpledzoo festival, affirming it will come off successfully on the 14th of May. He said several activities will be undertaken in the course of this week to mark the festival ahead of the main event.
Some elders also voiced out their concern over the negative reportage being spread out by some individuals in the Prampram township to create fear and panic in the area, and as well cast a bad snare on the leaders of the Traditional council.
