PHOTOS: Tobinco Foundation gives $ 7,000 to hole in heart patient

The Samuel Amo Tobbin Foundation has presented a cheque of USD 7,000 (36, 064 GHS) to Solomon Seidu, a hole in heart patient.

The amount is to assist him undergo surgery at the Cardio thoracic Unit of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.
The 31-year-old was diagnosed of the condition in 2017 at the centre but could not raise the amount of USD 7,000 needed for the surgery.

The Samuel Amo Tobbin Foundation, a Non-Governmental Organization, offered to pay USD 2,000 out of the total amount.

It also launched a special appeal in collaboration with Atinka TV on the 25th of April 2019 to raise the remaining USD 5,000 on behalf of the patient.
Presenting the cheque, the Executive Director of the Samuel Amo Tobbin Foundation, Harriet N. Asante, expressed gratitude to the general public for helping to raise the amount within time.

‘‘I am really impressed because today is exactly one month since this appeal was launched and to be able to realize such an amount within the period, is amazing and we thank the general public for the gesture,” she said.
She noted that the amount realized through public contribution was in excess of over GHC 4, 000 which was handed over in cash to the patient for any unforeseen expenses that may arise as a result of the surgery.
Meanwhile, the heart surgeon in charge of the patient, Dr. Baffoe Gyan said the surgery will be performed as soon as Mr. Seidu is taken through some preliminary medical check ups at the facility.

An elated Seidu praised the Foundation and the General Public for the gesture. He asked the public to support him with prayers for a successful surgery.
