Photos: Ga North Municipality marks 62nd Independence Day

 

Participants from first and second cycle institutions from the Ga North Municipality  converged at the M/A Cluster of Schools, Ofankor to perform the march past in commemoration of the 62nd Independence Day Anniversary celebration.

Also present at the function and participating were representatives of the various political parties, voluntary organisations, cadet corps from the Saint Johns Grammer SHS, artisans, assembly members and heads of department.

Almost 1000 students from 13 basic schools and 3 Senior High Schools came together to take part in the parade organized by the Ga North Municipal Assembly.

During the parade, 2 students collapsed and were taken out for medical attention.

The New Achimota Presbyterian School, however, was adjudged the winner of the march past.

The second position went to Our Lady of Assumption School (OLAs) while the Ofankor SDA Preparatory School placed third.

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Ga North, Ms Gertrude Ankrah entreated all to be peace loving in order to champion the course of development for the municipality.

30 students who excelled last year in the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), were also awarded by the Member of Parliament for Trobu Constituency, Mr Moses Anim to motivate those who will write this year to perform.

He encouraged the heads of school to put in all their efforts to ensure that the students excel in the examination ahead.
