Peace Council calls for security enforcement at Chereponi

The Northern Regional Executive Secretary of the National Peace Council (NPC), Father Thaddeus Kusah, has appealed to the security agencies to deploy security reinforcement to tackle the current situation in Chereponi.

There have been series of acts of violence in Chereponi between the Konkombas and Chokosis, also known as Anufuls following a renewed clash.

The conflict has resulted in deaths and the destruction of houses belonging to both communities.

According to reports, about twenty-two (22) communities have been burnt down after the clash was renewed.

Speaking with Ekourba Gyasi on Atinka AM Drive, Rev. Father Thaddeus Kusah, stated that until police reinforces the security personnel in Chereponi, the Peace Council can do little “because you might not know who will be shooting at what time.”.

He noted that the issue is a security issue  and that it is prudent that the security agencies take charge and ensure that calm is restored.
