Obuor, others using MUSIGA for their personal businesses – Kwaisey Pee

Castigating the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) is  not uncommon as far as the organization’s operation is concerned , but what seems to be the strongest criticism ever leveled against the Group has come to  fore.

The Highlife crooner, Kwaisey Pee, known in real life as Akwasi Opoku, openly inveighed the organization during an interview with DJ Candyman on the Drive Talk on Atinka 104.7 FM last Friday.

The comment came in the wake of a question asked by DJ Candy man pertaining to the administration and membership of the Union.
When asked whether or not he (Kwaisey Pee) was a member of the group, the “Mehia Odo” hit maker categorically said he had nothing to do with the organization.

According to him, the organization is not appealing and attractive enough to be associated with, hence his apathy towards the group.
“If the group is attractive, that’s when you would love to associate with it but there is nothing attractive about MUSIGA’’ He bluntly stated.

The veteran artiste believes the organization has nothing to offer him as a musician and the entire industry as a whole. He further stated that the organization has become a platform on which people perpetuate themselves by siphoning money to enrich themselves.

“Where is the 2 million cedis Government gave  MUSIGA, I learnt they used the money for research. Which impact did it make on  our lives as musicians? He rhetorically asked.

According to the Highlife gem, MUSIGA is now a business entity people hide behind the façade of working to change their financial statuses, where he cited the president, Bice Osei Kuffour as an example of someone whose physical and financial status suddenly changed following his success as a MUSIGA president

“See Obour, we all knew him when he was a hip-life artiste, look at him now, he has totally changed,” he jovially stated.

He, however, confessed that if he wants to contest as MUSIGA president, he would regardless.

Kwaisey Pee is currently promoting his new single dubbed “M’abre”  which featured the chanteuse, Yaa Yaa .
