The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has mounted pressure on Flag Bearer of opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama to make his policies known to Ghanaians instead of saying he would review the policies of the NPP government when he (Mahama) comes back to power.

According to the NPP, it has been about a year Mahama was elected as the flagbearer of the NDC, and since then, he has not been able to tell Ghanaians of any solid policies, tagging him as incompetent even in opposition, adding that he has nothing to offer Ghanaians.

Earlier this week, news broke out that the NDC had set up a manifesto committee, to accept contributions from Civil Society Organisations, Trade Unions and other members of the public, as it seeks to put out what it calls Grassroots Manifesto.

Reacting to the above at a press conference, the National Youth Organiser of the NPP, Nana Boakye challenged the NDC to also come clear on its alternatives to Free SHS Policy, NABCO, Planting for food and Jobs, restoration of allowances and others.

We recall that the National Communications Officer of the NDC, Sammy Gyamfi addressing a press conference on Tuesday, listed 51 persons he claimed are relatives and friends which he said pointed to “classic and unprecedented” nepotism within the Akufo-Addo government.

The NDC also listed relatives of the President, Vice-President Mahamudu Bawumia, Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, and relatives of the Senior Minister, Yaw Osafo-Maafo to back their claims.

Also reacting to this claims, Nana Boakye denied the allegations by the NDC, that President Akufo-Addo is running a “family and friends” government.

According to him, the tag friends and family originated from the NDC, adding that the NPP can also come out with a tall list of people and their relations in the Mahama government….

Meanwhile, he said all those that have been appointed in the Akufo Addo’s government are over qualified, have worked and deserves whatever position they occupy.

He stated that NDC came up with the allegations because they are very bitter that the government took bold steps to cancel the concession agreement that Mahama gave his brother, Ibrahim Mahama, what he describes as access to a large proportion of Ghana’s bauxite.

Nana Boakye also stated that the NDC’s were apprehended by the warm reception given to President Akufo Addo at the Volta during his two day tour and therefore were doing everything to distract people’s attention from the good governance the Akufo Addo –led-administration was giving to Ghanaians.
