NPP chair calls for security beef-up at health centers following attack on Tamale Hospital

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Chairman for the New Juabeng Constituency, Kwadwo Agyeman, has called on the government to reinforce security  at the various  health facilities in the country following recent attacks on the CEO and managers of the Tamale Teaching Hospital.

A group of youth believed to be members of the pro NPP vigilante group, Kandahar boys, on Monday 13th August 15 attacked and sacked managers of the Tamale Teaching Hospital out of their offices.

The group reportedly attacked and locked up the office of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Tamale Teaching Hospital, Dr David Zaawumya Kolbila first before proceeding to the offices of the managers.

The New Juabeng NPP Chairman made this appeal  on Atinka AM Drive with Ekourba Gyasi.

According to him, the health sector is a delicate area and the incident at TTH calls for a swift security beef-up at all hospitals in the country.

Mr. Kwadwo Agyeman called on Ghanaians to see the issue as a national concern and not political issue.

“I am a Ghanaian first before politics and this issue should never be politicized. There is the need for security posts in our various hospitals because aside attacks  like these, our mothers and fathers on admission in these hospitals need to be protected,” he added.

Meanwhile, midwives and nurses at the Tamale Teaching Hospital have since declared a strike action following the attacks and have reportedly turned away patients who reported to the Tamale Teaching Hospital (TTH) Wednesday morning.
