NGO calls for creation of Development Authority for indigenous communities

Political parties contesting the fourth coming presidential and parliamentary elections in the country have been told to sign up to the proposal of creating a development authority for indigeneous people.
This according to Settle Ghana will ensure the rapid development and total transformation of tens of thousands of Indigenous communities in the country and bridge the development gap between cities and communities.
Mr Abu Karimu made the appeal to the parties in Benso in the Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipality of the Western Region.
He said despite having more than %80 of minerals resources on their lands, poverty and lack of development are  still visible in their communities.
He told the media that today indigenous communities in Ghana feel unseen when sharing the national cake, although those neglected communities contribute more than half to the baking of the national cake.
Indigenous communities have continuously criticized past and present governments of not attaching seriousness to their needs and aspirations of living a fair and a dignified life.
As Ghana heads for its eighth successful democratic elections, settle Ghana wants political parties and their candidates to commit and sign the creation of the authority into their programs when elected.
