New Voters' Register: NDC disagrees with Supreme Court verdict – Mahama

The flagbearer for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama says the Party is disappointed in the verdict of the Supreme Court
The Supreme Court on Thursday dismissed two suits that were seeking the use of the existing voter identification card and birth certificates as the source documents for the impending voter registration exercise.
Reacting to the Supreme Call ruling, flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama reiterated that the compilation of a new voter register Will disenfranchise a number of Ghanaians.
According to him, the NDC’s decision to go to the Supreme court was informed by the party’s timed commitment to an inclusive democracy as opposed to the NPP’s exclusiveness.
He, however, added that it was obvious from the onset that inclusive democracy was not going to have a hearing even against resounding calls by groups.
“My brothers and sisters, we are deeply disappointed and we strongly disagree with the verdict of the Supreme Court over this outcome which has confounded many legal experts and indeed has thrown the whole country into a state of confusion. Our legal team is examining this decision even as we await the full reason for this judgement”, he added.
