A former Deputy Ashanti Regional Minister, Joseph Yamin, has revealed that the vigilante group, the Hawks are represented the regional security committees of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Vigilante group, the hawks, reportedly attacked the Ashanti Regional Office of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC). The incident led to the death of one, leaving another person with severe injuries.

The former Municipal Chief Executive for Ejisu-Juabeng, Afrifa Yamoah-Ponkoh and former Deputy Ashanti Regional Minister, Joseph Yamin were invited for questioning by the police for their possible involvement in the shooting incident last Monday.

Joseph Yamin who revealed this in an interview with Ekourba Gyasi on Atinka AM Drive on Wednesday, explained that Aseidu Nketia was in Kumasi for a security meeting which had a presentative from the hawks as part of the meeting.

He noted that the Hawks play roles  similar to the Party’s taskforce.

“The hawks were not present at the Regional Office because of Yamin, they were  invited just like  the others”, he added.

Asked if he was  the  commander of the Hawks, Joseph Yamin, stated that he would be proud if he was indeed a commander of a group working for the better of the NDC.

Meanwhile the Greater Accra Regional Organizer for the NDC, Anthony Nukpenu, has refuted claims that The Hawks is a vigilante group.

According to him, the Hawks is a group which consists of party executives who  assist the NDC in organizational strategies and mobilization as well providing support in terms of operation in catchment areas.

“I am talking as a member, the party has not instituted the hawks”, he added.
