Nana Addo erred in asking Sulemana’s Deputy to act– Expert

A Director at the  Institute of Governance, Professor Kusi Asiamah, says President Akufo -Addo should not have asked the Deputy Upper West Regional Minister to act after the Regional Minister's suspension.

President Nana Akufo-Addo yesterday ordered the immediate suspension of the Upper West Regional Minister, Alhaji Sulemana Alhassan, for his role in Wednesday’s disturbances at the Regional NADMO office.

The Minister reportedly ordered the police to release some persons believed to be NPP thugs who had been arrested for attacking the regional NADMO office and destroying public property in the process.

The presidency in a statement on Thursday asked the Minister to proceed on suspension while the disturbance at the Upper West Regional NADMO office Wednesday is been investigated.

Speaking on Atinka AM Drive with Kaakyire Ofori Ayim, A Director at Institute of governance, Professor Kusi Asiamah, explained that the president should have  directed  another  Minister  to  act  instead.

According to him, there is a vast difference between the duties of a regional Minister and that of a deputy regional Minister.

” I would agree with the Minority on this one, I think the duties of the Regional Minister should have been added to that of either the Northern Regional Minister or the Upper East Regional Minister other than his deputy,” he added.
