The President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo, has commended the Ghanaian media in its support towards the fight against galamsey.
Speaking at a media encounter Wednesday at the Flagstaff House in Accra, President Akufo Addo mentioned that the NPP administration inherited a situation where illegal mining popularly called galamsey was a serious menace.
According to him, Ghana is not against mining, however "cannot accept mining in a manner that risk destroying the country’s vegetation".
“I extend my gratitude to the media for the support the are giving in the campaign we are undertaking against Galamsey. This is not a short time campaign and we need everybody’s support to make it successful”.
