“My mother was not a witch”- Son of 90-yr old lynched woman speaks

Mahama Salaam, Son of  90-year old woman who was lynched in Kafaba says her mother was not a witch, describing her death as cruel and unfortunate.
Madam Mariama Akua Denteh was lynched to death in Kafaba in the East Gonja Municipality of the Savannah region.
The 90-year old woman was lynched on suspicion of witchcraft at Kafaba in the East Gonja Municipality of the Savannah region.
Reacting to news surrounding his mother’s death, Mahama Salaam, said this is not  the first time a person has been lynched to death in Kafaba.
According to him, his aunt was also attacked the same day on suspicion of also being a witch.
Mahama Salaam  disclosed that he was asked to give his mother a ring after she became severely ill  as a result of malaria.
Unfortunately, the youth sighted the ring on the hands of the old woman and concluded that she had hidden her witch craft in the ring.
Asked where her kids were at the time their mother was being lynched, Mahama Salaam,  who is also a businessman, said the youth charged on anyone who tried to save the old woman.
“ They lynched her about 800 meters away from her house and upon sensing danger placed her on a motor bike and brought her into her house to die. My elder sister tried following the mob but was advised to stay back home or face lynching herself. It was as if something had come over the youth and I think it’s because no action is taken when they act this way. By the time I got to Kafaba from Salaga, my mother was unconscious, she died few minutes after speaking to me”, he said.
