Murdered GPHA boss laid to rest

Mrs Josephine Tandoh Asante, the murdered Tema Port Marketing and Public Relations Manager has been buried today. Mrs. Asante was gruesomely murdered in her EMEFS Estate residence in Tema on January 13, 2019 after she had returned from GPHA senior staff end of year party that night.

The Parish Priest of St. Thomas Moore and John Fisher Catholic Church, Achimota, Right Reverend Father George Obeng Appah delivering the sermon said the late Josephine eschewed corruption and stood her grounds in the pursuit of her work, for which reason she was eliminated. The man of God lamented over the ill attitudes of public servants which to him is destroying the social fabric of Ghana.

Rev. Father Appah sought the occasion to implore the police to exhibit honesty, fairness and professionalism in the discharge of their duties and stop corrupt and unpatriotic tendencies.

The Director General of the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority, GPHA, Michael Luguje talking to the media said, as the Marketing Manager who linked the port authority to the rest of the community and customers, Josephine's sudden demise will have some negative toll on the port in the short term. This to him is because there could have been proper handing over of some verbal information the deceased might have had with customers to guide the rest of the port. Unfortunately, such verbal information he observed will be difficult to access, given the current situation.

Mr. Luguje expressed GPHA and Josephine family's dissatisfaction at the snail pace of the case in court, and inability to apprehension the culprit till date. The GPHA Boss was however quick to count on the professionalism of the police to arrest those who committed such heinous crime.

The immediate past DG of GPHA, Raymond Anamoo under whom Josephine also worked said he knew her both at the port and in her private life as a quiet but diligent and result oriented personality who one will least think that some people will take her life in such an evil manner.

The Marketing and Corporate Affairs Manager of GPHA, Esther Gyebi-Donkor said members of the Marketing department of GPHA, the big family to which Josephine belonged are struggling to come to terms with her unannounced death, saying she refers to all staff in the department as her children.

Mrs. Gyebi-Donkor asked the police to do diligence to arrest the perpetrators of such unfortunate act to serve as deterrence to others, though that will not bring Josephine back to life

Josephine Tandoh Asante, 49 years, married with one male child had worked with the Non-Formal Education sector at Nungua, Price Waterhouse Coopers among others, and in other departments of the GPHA before assuming her current position.

The body was conveyed to a private place for internment.
