The Ghana Journalist Association (GJA) has received donations from Melcom Group of Companies, to support to its 70th Anniversary Awards which comes off on November 23rd 2019…
The items included a number of cartons of soft drinks, shopping vouchers and a 40 inch digital Television set for the winner of a specific category which will be decided by the GJA.
Speaking after receiving the items, the General Secretary of the GJA, Mr Kofi Yeboah on behalf of GJA thanked Melcom for supporting the Association and the Ghana Journalist Awards over the years.
He called on corporate entities and companies to support the GJA towards the awards to make it a success.
Mr Kofi Yeboah also stated that the GJA was forming a union to negotiate with owners and managers of media houses, especially the private ones to pay their workers what is deserving.
He then encouraged journalists to develop themselves personally in order to secure better positions in their respected field.
For his Part, the Director of Communications for Melcom Group of Companies, Mr Godwin Avenorgbo added his voice to persons who condemns attacks on journalists.
He noted that the media has played a vital role in the development of the country, urging persons who attack journalists to put a stop to it and also respect freedom of speech.
He stated that the company will continue to support and encourage journalists to promote their work.
