McDan CEO rescues Teong School under tree

The Executive Chairman for McDan Foundation, Dr Daniel McKorley, has handed over  a six-classroom block and a staff common room to  authorities of the Teong Community Primary School in the Upper East Region.

Pupils  of Teong Primary school were using mud houses as classrooms until  the  help  from the business mogul arrived.

These three mud houses which served as combined class housed a little above 240 pupils who had no option than to sit and write on the floor due to lack of furniture.

The foundation also provided tables, chairs as well as other teaching and learning materials to aid teachers.

The Foundation presented a two-bedroom apartment to the head teacher of the school.

Speaking on Atinka FM’s Morning show with Ekourba Gyasi Wednesday, The Executive Chairman for McDan Foundation, Dr Daniel McKorley explained that he was touched after seeing pictures of students learning in mud houses and writing on the floor on social media.

According to him, he showed the pictures to his family as well as the McDan foundation which  resulted in the kind gesture.

“I was saddened when I saw the pictures, it was pathetic. I showed the pictures to my wife and kids for them to see how fortunate we are to have been blessed by God. Although there were other pictures of schools under trees, the situation at Teong needed immediate assistance,” he said.

He called on the private sector as well as individuals to assist in development especially the education sector since the government could not do it all.
