Martin Amidu sworn in as Special Prosecutor

 

President Nana Akufo Addo has today sworn in Special Prosecutor Mr. Martin A.B.K Amedu at Flags staff House.

The President of the Republic, in January nominated Martin Alamisi Burnes Kaiser Amidu as the Special Prosecutor, subject to the approval of Parliament.

Martin Amidu who was vetted by the Appointments Committee on February 15, 2018 in a sitting that exceeded 7 hours was approved by the Appointments Committee of Parliament last Tuesday.

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Tamale North, Suhuyini Alhassan Sayibu is the only MP reported to have voted against Mr Amidu's approval.

The citizen vigilante was sworn-in in a short ceremony at the flagstaff house in Accra, Friday 23rd February 2018.

The office of the Special Prosecutor be mandated to investigate and prosecute cases of alleged corruption under the Public Procurement Act 203 Act 63 and other corruption-related offences implicating public officers, political office holders and their accomplices in the public sector.
