Kpone: Veep commissions 4kilometer Ghana-China Friendship concrete road

Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has commended the Chinese government for it tremendous support in improving the country’s resources with it investment and job creation.
He made the commendation when he commissioned a 4,million dollar 4 kilometer concrete road dubbed ‘Ghana China friendship road’ in the Kpone katamanso District of the Greater Accra Region, which was funded by the Sunon Asogli Power Plant.
At the commissioning ceremony of the 4 kilometer concrete road at Kpone witnessed by the Chinese Ambassador to Ghana, Mr Shi Ting Wang, Vice President Bawumia commended China for continuing to be an important development partner in adding value to the country’s resources with their investment.
He said, the latest concrete road constructed by the Chinese government through Sunon Asogli Power plant comes barely 54 years after the first concrete road which happens to be the Tema Motorway.
He outlined some roads in the municipality selected for construction this year.
The Chinese Ambassador to Ghana, H.E Shing Ting Wang said the project is another evidence of Chinese governments commitment to improving it bilateral trade with Ghana, with the Chinese government paying over 10million dollars of taxes alone last year while statistics showing that China is the biggest trader and investor in the country.
Chairman of the Sunon Asogli Power plant Yang Qun, said the project shows their commitment to support development in th area, noting that they have undertaken several CSE projects in the Kpone Katamanso District including a new astro turf, provision of streetlights, reshaping of some roads etc.
The Deputy minister for Roads and Highways, Anthony Karboe said the road will help improve transport delivery in the area, since the are forms part of the Industrial enclave, urging the assembly and the company to ensure proper maintenance of the road.
The 4million dollar 4 kikometer Concrete road, dubbed the Ghana China friendship road which was constructed by Sunon Asogli Power plant Chinese majority shareholding company, stretches through the company’s plant station through to the Kpone township, was completed in 2016.
The road will add up to the other 2 concrete roads being undertaken by the government in the Tema and Northern region.
