The Korley Klottey Municipal has approved its composite budget for 2020 fiscal year at an ordinary meeting of the first session of the general assembly in the Accra on Thursday.
The executive committee of the assembly approved the budget at its meeting in Accra where all 9 assembly members and 5 government were present.
The budget proposes an internally generated fund of GH¢11,509,200.00, central Government releases of GH¢11,338,674.00 and donor proceeds of GH¢60.000.
Voting for the motion was unanimous.
In his speech after the vote, The MCE of Korle-Klottey Municipal Assembly, Samuel James Nii Adjei Tawiah, thanked the assembly members for approving the composite budget and fee-fixing resolution for the assembly to raise revenue and spend on development projects.
He mentioned his commitment to improve the lives of the people through ensuring development, quality education, good health, proper nutrition and security.
He urged assembly members to get serious in revenue generation in the municipality and reminded them that there was a lot of revenue areas that needed to be tapped and leakages blocked.
Member of Parliament for Klottey Korle, Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, on her part said, the budget is very comprehensive and will address the basic amenities the municipality is lacking like street lights, schools and sanitation.
She added that the supplementary budget shows the reflection and the direction of development for the municipality and she announced that there is no way Korley Klottey Municipality won’t be one of the best municipalities in the country.
