Korle Klottey Assembly to enforce By-laws on sanitation

The Korle Klottey Municipal Assembly (KOKMA), says they will soon outdoor enforcement power to check public nuisance on sanitation.

Speaking at the commissioning of the Mini waste vehicles and drain cleansing team for the assembly, The MCE of Korle-Klottey Municipal Assembly, Mr Samuel James Nii Adjei Tawiah, indicated that very soon sanitation guards will be out-doored to augment the enforcement manpower to check nuisance and other complimentary sanitation enforcement assignment.

He noted that few existing mini waste vehicles are not road worth and the frequent break downs compelled them to routinely move the compaction trucks around and Municipal Assembly also identified choked drains (80%) due to neglect and therefore recounted 12-member drain cleansing team to work from one electoral area at time.

He added that the assembly coming into being has recruited more sweepers, drain team for Osu castle, beach cleansing team, tricycle riders, janitors all in the effort to maintain general cleanliness.

He acknowledges the immerse contribution of Zoomlion to the public cleansing with the donation of the ten (10) tricycles as well as the support provided by Jekora Ventures in the collection of street waste.

He said the commission of the 12 tricycles, 12 riders and 12 janitors are meant to ensure that the assembly managed the street collection, whilst the compaction trucks serves as back end for final disposal.
