The Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of National Youth Authority (NYA), Chief Nelson Owusu Ansah is campaigning for a serious discourse on youth vulnerabilities.
His campaign comes after the country received shocking news of two teenagers killing a 10-year-old boy for money rituals.
The NYA Boss noted that the youth are always perceived as the rabble-rousers, deviant in society without properly diagnosing the issues confronting young people in contemporary times in order to address them.
Meanwhile, he observed that the youth have been exposed to dangerous crimes at home, school environment, their local communities by friends, families, peers and to some extent the elderly.
“The youth are always perceived as the rabble-rousers, deviant in society and so on. We may be right or not! What we have failed to do is to properly diagnose the issues confronting young people in this contemporary times and even identify the issues of vulnerabilities; they are constantly being exposed to dangerous crimes at home, school environment, their local communities by friends, families, peers and to some extent the elderly,” he stated.
He added that,”We need to begin a serious discourse on youth vulnerabilities and the impact it is creating in our society.”
Adding his voice to the many recommendations that have come after the Kasoa incident, he said,”It is sad and disheartening the event that occurred at Kasoa over the weekend. My heart goes to the affected families. Sad period for the country.”
