Journalists undergo two-day training in Energy Sector reporting

A two-day capacity training workshop has been organised by the Ghana Energy Commission for Some journalists from across the country.
The workshop according to the commission, forms part of the,“Empowering the Media to Play an Active Watchdog Role in reporting on the Energy Sector issues.”
The two-day course will also enable the participating journalists have a better understanding of the legal and policy framework governing the sector so that they are able to better inform the citizens and ensure good governance over the sector.

Welcoming and ushering journalists into the training on Thursday, 27th February, 2020 in Abokobi a suburb of Accra, the Executive Secretary of the Energy Commission, Ing. Oscar Amonoo- Neizer said, at the end of the course, journalists will gain more knowledge about the country’s energy sector, improve their news gathering skills and be equipped with the ability to analyze and interpret data from the sector.
He thanked the participants for sacrificing their time to undergo the training and argued that, the outcome will be beneficial.

In his welcome address, the Board Chairman of the Energy Commission, Prof. George Panin Hagan said about 85% of the Ghanaian population has access to energy now.
He added that, energy accessibility has now become a fundamental human right therefore every Ghanaian must have access to it.

He suggested to the Energy Commission to take the media on a tour to all the power sites in Ghana.
