Intensify search for killers of Ahmed Suale- GJA tells gov't, security agencies

The leadership of the Ghana Journalist Association (GJA) has appealed to government and the security agencies to intensify the search for the killers of murdered investigative Journalist, Ahmed Suale.
Undercover investigator and a key member of Anas Aremeyaw Anas’ Tiger Eye Private Investigations team, Ahmed Hussein-Suale was shot dead by unknown assailants on 17^th January 2019.
Ahmed was shot three times, twice in the chest and another in the neck late Wednesday night at Madina in Accra while driving home by unidentified men riding a motorbike.
A disheveled Anas confirmed the sad development and loss of a core team member and a brother, to Atinkaonline, hardly able to compose himself.
Ahmed was one of Tiger Eye’s journalists whose photographs the member of parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong circulated in his ‘who watches the watchman’ anti-Anas video documentary and called on the public to deal with for a handsome reward.
“He was just shot and killed, nothing was taken from him”, said another devastated member of the Anas team, who spoke to atinkaonline.com a year ago.
Speaking at the one year commemoration of the investigative journalist, President for the Ghana Journalist Association, Affail Monney, called on the government to held intensify the search for the killers, fast-track their prosecution and subsequent detention.
He added that this, when done, will send a clear message across the world that Ghana grants no immunity to persons who commit abominable crimes such as this.
Citing UNESCO, President for the Ghana Journalist Association, Affail Monney noted that the press is under attack globally and that it is sad for Ghana a country held in high esteem for its press freedom is a victim of this global cancer.
“We at the GJA would want to use this commemoration ceremony to sound a clarion caution to all journalist to sharpen their sense of security especially this election year and avoid areas and practices which will endanger their lives,” he said.
