"I'm not worried about Mahama’s declaration" – Sylvester Mensah

National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer hopeful, Sylvester Mensah, says former President John Mahama’s decision to contest the party’s flagbearer position will not change his stance.

Former President John Dramani Mahama stated that he had heeded to calls from “the teeming supporters and sympathizers” of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to contest the 2020 elections.

The former president made the comment on his Facebook page Saturday. Mr. Mahama’s definite statement on his political future follows the party’s series of “Unity Walks” across the country.

In an interview with Kaakyire Ofori Ayim on Atinka AM Drive, Sylvester Mensah welcomed the former President to the contest, adding that his declaration is his democratic right.

According to him, the former President’s comeback was common knowledge and that people were even expecting the declaration earlier.

“Every Ghanaian knew that he eventually will declare his intention to contest, perhaps it has taken too long for him to have declared his intention”, he said.

Asked if he would consider rescinding his decision to contest the NDC flagbearer position and join John Mahama as his running mate, Sylvester Mensah stated that at 54 years, he is politically mature to win the flagbearer position and lead the NDC to victory come 2020.
