“I won't glorify lunacy”- Yao Letsa on funding Western Togoland accusation

The Volta Regional Minister, Dr. Archibald Yao Letsa, says he is talking to his lawyers on the next line of action with respect to persons accusing him of funding activities of the Western Togoland.

This comes after activists of the secessionist group in the Volta Region blocked major entry points into the Region as part of measures to push the government to give them their sovereignty.

The group particularly blocked roads in Sogakope and Mepe, disrupting the activities of residents and motorists who ply that route.

The group also attacked a police station and made away with weapons from their armoury.

After the attack, some individuals who spoke under anonymity in an interview on Volta 1 Television, claimed that the Regional minister has been a financier of the group in the past

Reacting to the accusations on Atinka FM’s AM Drive with host Ekourba Gyasi, Dr. Archibald Yao Letsa denied the allegations, adding that his lawyers will advise on the next line of action.

“ I don’t want to  comment on that. It will be like I’m responding to lunacy, that interview on VI TV, investigate the station and find out whether or not the people were able to show their faces. Did they produce any evidence? I don’t want to give credence to what they said by even reacting, it will be like glorifying lunacy”, he explained.

The Volta Regional Minister who declined to give further details on the activities assured Ghanainas that the group does not have the  support of te masses of the people of the region.’

He appealed to the residents of the Volta region to report suspicious gatherings and activities to the security agencies.
