Atinka Sports has gathered that former Black Stars and Asante Kotoko Legend Wilberforce Mfum was denied entry to watch Accra Hearts of Oak’s’s Ghana Premier League against Ebusua Dwarfs at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday.
Mfum arrived at the stadium with his driver with just 15 minutes to kick-off but was not allowed to enter the match venue.
Speaking in an interview with Atinka FM’s Benji Deflowman, Wilberforce Mfum narrated how badly he was treated just because he wanted to watch Hearts of Oak game.
“I got to stadium quarter to 3:00pm and I told them I’m Mfum, former footballer but the policemen who were on duty said “no, I can’t go inside,” he told Atinka FM
“They asked me to park aside while I saw about 10 private cars entering the stadium so I called Hearts of Oak board member Mr. Frank Nelson and he told me he will come for me but he never did,” he added.
“I don’t blame them, I blame GFA and GHALCA for this. So if it was Asamoah Gyan, Stephen Appiah or Essien will they prevent them from entering the stadium?”
“Stop treating us like beggars and nobodys in a society, For Christ sake we former footballers and if for nothing we won 1963 AFCON for Ghana and I was the captain for 1965. We played from our hearts for this country” Mfum fumed.
