Human right activists call for Obour’s prosecution

Some human right activists  want former Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) President Bice Osei Kufour popularly known as Obour prosecuted for allegedly failing to disclose his father’s Coronavirus status to health officials at the Ridge Hospital.
Obour’s father, Nana Osei Boansi Kuffour who returned from UK on March 19, 2020, passed on at the Accra Regional Hospital on Friday 27th March 2020 to coronavirus.
Earlier reports on Social Media suggested  Obour failed to disclose the covid-19 status of his father to the health officials at the Ridge Hospital.
A statement from Obour on Friday stated that he called the Ambulance Service  to transfer  his father from Juaso to Accra for proper health care.
“We told them the patient had tested for COVID 19 and awaiting his results so they should come along with appropriate apparel. The ambulance team took him to Ridge Hospital around 11pm on Thursday March 26,” the statement said.
Meanwhile news portal, the Ghana Report says its highly placed sources within the Ghana National Ambulance Service have denied claims by musician that the status of his father’s possible 2019 novel coronavirus infection was disclosed to the Ambulance Service team that took him to Ridge hospital.
Meanwhile lawyer, Yahaya Seidu, in an interview with Atinka News noted that the concerns of persons calling for the prosecution of Obour will be genuine if it’s coming from a moral background.
According to him, the President’s Imposition of Restriction Act 2020 did not state categorically sanctions for persons who might fail to disclose their Covid-19 status.
