Health insurance does not work at Korle Bu-Peter Mensah alleges

A National Communications Member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter kwesi Mensah has alleged that Health Insurance does not work at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.
According to him, none of the Pharmaceutical departments at the hospital accepts the NHIS card even when doctors prescribe medications that are covered by the insurance.
Narrating his experience at the hospital concerning the health insurance on Atinka TV’s Morning Agenda, a segment on Ghana Nie, he said,” Can you imagine that at the whole of Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, none of all the pharmaceutical departments there  are taking health insurance?. Insurance does not work at Korle Bu. Whatever medicine is written for you, even paracetamol, they will not give it to you on the account of the insurance.”
Peter Kwesi Mensah, who was hospitalised at Korle Bu observed that one of the key issues bothering people who go the hospital is that no pharmaceutical department accepts insurance.
“I slept at Korle Bu for three weeks in January, none of the pharmacies accepted insurance. Even medicines that were covered by the NHIS were not given to us.
I was charged GHC112 to make a folder,” he said.
