Group "mad " over budget for Tourism ministry Ambassadors

The Federation of Concerned Arts Professionals (FOCAP) has described the budget reportedly allocated to tourism ambassadors to undertake different projects as outrageous.

The Ministry of Tourism reported displayed a chart with projects to be embarked by its ambassadors as well as corresponding amounts to be spent on the projects during a press meeting.

In an interview with Ekourba Gyasi on Atinka AM Drive Thursday, convenor for FOCAP, Mel Kwasi Davies, explained that although some of the projects are beneficial to the growth of the ministry, the execution plan is extremely out of order.

According to him, one of Okyeame Kwame's four projects which is aimed at promoting cocoa consumption already coincides with a project launched by the national buffer stock company and Benjamin's Hot chocolate.

He called on the President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo, as well as the finance Minister to look into the projects and the proposed amounts to be spent.

However, speaking on the same issue, convenor at the Center for Intellectual Property Advocacy Ghana (CIPAG), Kwame Kodua Atuahene, urged FOCAP to desist from making hasty generalizations and focus on analyzing the creative content of the proposed projects.

He added that the ambassadors in themselves are influencial and that it will be prudent for the group to pay attentionto the content.

"Creativity is not easy, it is very difficult to come up with creative contents only for it to be opened up to the general public. That would not be fair", he added.
